California's Proposition 19 is a ballot initiative set to go before the voters in November 2010. According to the Legislative Analysts Office's website, if the initiative passes, it would legalize the personal consumption of marijuana in non-public places, as well as cultivation of up to 25 square feet of marijuana plants and the possession of equipment associated with such activities.
It also authorizes local governments to permit larger operations, including ones on a commercial scale, as well as to regulate the cultivation, procession, distribution, transportation sale or possession for sale of cannabis.
